Car Strikes and Kills Pedestrian on U.S. 41
Fort Myers, FL (October 2, 2017) – A man was struck and killed by a car Sunday night. The Florida Highway Patrol reported the incident to have occurred around 9:45 p.m. on October 1 near Hancock Bridge Parkway.
The police report shows that a pedestrian was crossing U.S. 41 when he walked into the path of a 2016 Volkswagen Jetta. The vehicle was unable to stop to avoid hitting the pedestrian and struck him.
First responders pronounced the 51-year-old pedestrian dead at the scene.
The driver and passenger in the Volkswagen were not injured.
The identity of the victim was not revealed, pending notification of next of kin.
No charges have been filed.
