Driver Killed in Plant City Wrong-Way Crash on Alexander Street near Calhoun Street

Plant City, Florida (May 15, 2018) – A driver was killed Monday night in a wrong-way head-on collision in Plant City.
Authorities said the crash occurred at about 11:50 p.m. May 14, on Alexander Street near the intersection with Calhoun Street.
The collision involved a semi-truck and a blue Volkswagen Passat.
The Passat, driven by a man, was heading southbound in the northbound lanes of Alexander Street when it collided with the truck, operated by a man. It was unknown why the Passat was driving the wrong way.
The driver of the Passat was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck was uninjured.
The identity of the deceased was not immediately disclosed.
There were no other occupants in both vehicles.
No additional information was provided.
The crash remains under investigation.
