Man Killed in Jefferson County Moped Crash on Shelbyville Road
Jefferson County, Florida (December 31, 2017) – A moped rider was killed in a fatal collision with a car on Thursday night in Jefferson County, according to Louisville Metro Police.
The crash occurred just before 9 p.m. on Thursday, December 28, in the 8900 block of Shelbyville Road near Hurstbourne Parkway.
Police said Nicholas Allen Mazurowski, 20, was riding his moped in the right lane of Shelbyville Road when he was struck from the back by a vehicle merging from the left lane.
The force of the crash pushed Mazurowski through the windshield of the vehicle that struck him.
Mazurowski was wearing a helmet and was taken to University of Louisville Hospital with major injuries. He was pronounced deceased at 1:06 a.m. Friday, December 29.
Police are looking for Mazurowski’s next of kin.
No charges are expected, police said.
