12-Year Old Plant City Boy Miguel Resendiz Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash in Mulberry
Mulberry, Florida (December 12) – A 12-year-old boy was killed and three other people were injured in a crash involving a car and a semi-trailer on State Road 60 Tuesday morning, authorities said.
The crash took place at about 8:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 12 on State Road 60 in Mulberry
According to Florida Highway Patrol, 29-year-old Maricela Resendiz of Plant City was driving a BMW 328xi eastbound when she attempted to turn north onto Bailey Road and crossed into the path of a westbound 2006 Freightliner semi-truck. The semi hit the right front part of the BMW.
Miguel Resendiz,12, who was riding in the front passenger seat of the BMW sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Maricela and a 4-year-old passenger, Angel Resendiz, sustained serious injuries and were taken to area hospitals for treatment. All the three occupants of the BMW were wearing seat belts, FHP said.
The semi driver, 38, Carlos Colchado of Fort Meade, sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
No additional information was provided. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
