Lehigh Acres Men Michael Furrow and Robert Yale Killed in Crash on CR-721
Glades County, Florida (January 9, 2018) – According to Florida Highway Patrol, two people were killed and one critically injured in a crash in Glades County Friday night.
The crash happened around 11:00 p.m. Saturday, January 6, at County Road 721 and State Road 78.
According to FHP, a 44-year-old man, Benjamin J. Desjardine of Lowa, Louisiana, was driving a 2005 Dodge Ram northbound on CR-721 near SR-78 when it veered into the southbound lanes.
A vehicle driven by a 19-year-old Clewiston woman, Shannon L. Garret, veered to avoid the ram, striking the guardrail. Garret and her 18-year-old passenger, River S. Oceola, were uninjured.
The Ram ended up crashing head-on with a 2017 Hyundai Sonata operated by furrow. Yale was a passenger aboard Furrow’s car. Another vehicle stopped to help the passengers, troopers said.
As per the report, 61-year-old Linda S. Tommie, of Okeechobee was driving a 2011 Ford F-150, the fourth vehicle, which struck the Ram that was lying on its side, and then striking Tracy A. Cypress critically hurting her.
Cypress was transported to Lawnwood Memorial Hospital while Desjardine was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital in serious condition.
The crash remains under police investigation.
