Woman Killed in Fatal Gadsden County Pedestrian Crash on U.S. Highway 60
Gadsden County, Florida (January 14, 2018) – A 60-year-old woman was on Saturday afternoon hit and killed by a vehicle on U.S. 60 in Gadsden County, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
The incident took place at around 3:50 p.m. Saturday, January 13, on U.S. Highway 60 at North Main Street.
Troopers said Linda West, 60, of Quincy and Jasmine McAffee , 23, also of Quincy, were both crossing U.S. 60 when West turned back to pick something they dropped on the roadway and was struck by an eastbound Ford F-150.
The driver of the Ford, Demetric Rhabb, 44, of Jacksonville, had made an attempt to drift sideways to avoid an accident but the right rear of his vehicle hit West, troopers said.
West later succumbed to her injuries.
Troopers said West and McAffee were not using a marked crosswalk when the accident happened.
