Woman Killed in Train Crash in Delray ID’d as Linda Short
Delray Beach, Florida (January 11, 2018) – The woman who was killed in a train crash in Delray Beach Wednesday evening was identified as Linda Short, police said.
The crash took place around 7:40 p.m. Wednesday, January 10, on the Florida East Coast tracks on Linton Boulevard in Broward County.
According to a police report, the 73-year-old Berea woman, Linda Short, is thought to have mistakenly turned north onto the tracks when safety gates came down and crashed head-on into the southbound train.
Short was declared dead at the scene.
She had planned to be in Broward County for a few months for the winter.
Both Linton Road and SE 10 St. were blocked by the southbound train. The road was opened again at about 11:50 p.m.
The crash remains under investigation.
