Loxahatchee Groves Boy Killed in West Palm Beach Crash on Bensel Street
West Palm Beach, Florida (January 9, 2018) – A Loxahatchee boy was struck and killed by a vehicle on Saturday evening in West Palm Beach, according to police.
The accident occurred in the 4500 block of Bensel Street, northwest of Palm Beach International Airport at around 5:17 p.m. Saturday, January 6.
According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, Jeremiah Nicolas Lopez, 6, of Loxahatchee was either sitting or kneeling on his skateboard at a driveway on Bensel Street when he was hit and ran over by a 2009 Jeep Cherokee, driven by Akos Koleszar, 39, of West Palm Beach.
Police said Lopez had no protective gear on and was pronounced dead at 5:24 p.m. at the scene.
Koleszar remained at the scene of the crash.
Police said no charges are expected.
