Jeremiah Bertis among Several Hurt in Marion County Collision on I-75
Marion County, Florida (February 10, 2018) – Several people were hurt, and two of them were airlifted after a collision between two vehicles on Friday afternoon in Marion County, according to FHP.
The crash happened at around 2:24 p.m. Friday, February 9, on Interstate 75 at Mile Marker 352.
FHP said Maria Isabel Cuevas of Elmendorf, Texas, was driving a 2003 Ford SUV on I-75 when one of the front tires blew out causing her to lose control and collided with a 2017 Ford Explorer, driven by Robert Lacy Lentz, 75, of Gainesville.
Jeremia Bertis, 1, of Texas was a passenger in the SUV and was transported by helicopter to Shands UF Hospital. Jesus Bertiz, 49, also of Texas, was airlifted to Ocala Regional Medical Center. It is unclear how seriously hurt the two were.
A 3-year-old and a 5-year-old were among people treated for minor injuries.
Lentz was not injured.
The southbound lanes of Interstate 70 were closed for four hours as investigators examined and cleared the scene.
