New Port Richey Motorcyclist Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash on State Road 54
Pasco County, FL (September 8, 2017) – A man was killed from injuries he sustained in a two-vehicle collision involving a car and his motorcycle Thursday afternoon.
The Florida Highway Patrol reported that the incident occurred around 5:35 p.m. September 7 at the intersection of State Road 54 and Starkey Boulevard.
The report shows that 35-year-old James M. Shortt III, of New Port Richey, rode his 2002 Honda VT750 westbound on SR 54. A 2016 Ford Focus driven by 63-year-old Kathryn L. Branca, of New Port Richey, was eastbound on the left turn lane of SR 54.

First responders that arrived brought Shortt to the Medical Center of Trinity, where he later died due to his injuries.
He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
