1 Killed and 1 Other Critically Injured in Drew Street Multiple Vehicle Collision
Clearwater, FL (October 2, 2017) – A four-vehicle collision Monday morning killed one woman and has left another driver in critical condition.
Troopers revealed that the collision occurred at the intersection of Drew Street and Duncan Avenue around 6:33 a.m. on October 2.
The preliminary investigation showed that the two vehicles were traveling eastbound on Drew Street before they collided. The vehicle of 52-year-old Felicia Cunningham, of Largo, collided with the vehicle of 39-year-old Patrick Emery Smith, of St. Petersburg. This caused Cunningham’s car to flip to its side and hit a westbound car driven by 34-year-old Elizabeth Rivera, of Clearwater. The fourth vehicle involved a westbound Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority bus driven by 43-year-old Gregory Alan Bennett, of Clearwater. The bus sustained minor damage but did not have any passengers at the time of the incident.
Both Bennett and Smith were not injured in the collision.
Cunningham was killed in the crash. Rivera sustained critical injuries and was brought to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg.
Officials shut down both directions of Drew Street until 11 a.m. as an investigation was conducted.
We extend our condolences to the family and friends of the victim in the crash.
