Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Car on U.S. 1
St. Augustine, FL (September 21, 2017) – The Florida Highway Patrol responded to a pedestrian that was struck and killed by a car on a highway near Ocean Boulevard Tuesday evening.
According to the report, the incident occurred on U.S. 1 around 10 p.m. on September 19.
The FHP reported that 58-year-old Elaine Satkowski, of St. Augustine, attempted to cross the highway near Lewis Speedway when she was struck by a Toyota Corolla headed south.
Satkowski was declared dead at the scene.
The driver of the Corolla, 36-year-old Barry Waldschmidt, of Jacksonville, was uninjured. He was not believed to be driving under the influence at the time of the crash.
