Boy Injured After Being Ejected from Vehicle in Davis Highway Crash in Escambia County
Escambia County, Florida (February 1, 2018) – A 4-year-old boy is in critical condition after he was involved in a traffic crash Thursday morning in Escambia County, a local news source reported.
The collision transpired at an unspecified time, Thursday, February 1 on Davis Highway.
As per the article, the Florida Highway Patrol reported that Sara Jayne Hyduk, 69, was traveling on the left northbound lane of the highway. Antonio Duffy, 31, was driving a second vehicle in the same lane. A third driver, Sabrina Condino, 39, was traveling in the right northbound lane.
According to FHP, Duffy and Condino stopped at a red light when Hyduk failed to slow down for the stopped vehicles after probably suffering a medical emergency and losing consciousness.
Hyduk crashed into the rear of Duffy’s car and pushed it about 200 feet forward. The 4-year-old boy who was a passenger in Duffy’s vehicle was ejected and thrown under Hyduk’s vehicle.
The boy sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola in critical condition. Reportedly, the child was not wearing a seatbelt or child restraint.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
