Marion County, FL – The identity of a man that was struck and killed while trying to cross Interstate 75 in Marion County has been released by the Florida Highway Patrol.
The collision occurred on Interstate 75 Northbound, near Mile Maker 344 just before 5.am. Monday, according to the FHP.
A pedestrian was attempting to cross the interstate when a semi dump truck was traveling northbound, stated reports.
The pedestrian, identified as 58-year old Donnie Furry of West Virginia crossed the center paved median into the direct path of the truck.
Furry was pronounced dead by Marion County Fire Rescue at 5:14 a.m. after enduring fatal injuries.
The driver of the 2000 Kenworth semi-dump truck was identified as 52-year old Omar Campos Aguado who was not injured.
The cause of the crash is still being investigated
