Sarasota Man Zachary Rogers Killed in Motorcycle Crash on U.S. 41

Sarasota, Florida (January 26, 2018) – A man was killed on Thursday night in a crash between a motorcycle and a car in Sarasota, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
The accident happened at around 10:30 p.m. Thursday, January 24 on U.S. 41 near the intersection of Florida Boulevard.
A 2005 Suzuki motorcycle traveling southbound on U.S. 41 hit the right side of a Pontiac after the driver of the car, a 51-year-old Bradenton woman who was driving in the middle lane, made right a turn onto Florida Boulevard and into the path of the motorcycle.
The impact caused the motorcyclist to lose control and to slam into an electric box at the intersection.
The driver of the motorcycle, 21-year-old Zachary Rogers of Sarasota, died at Sarasota Memorial Hospital.
His passenger, a 20-year-old woman, was left in critical condition at Sarasota Memorial.
The Pontiac driver was uninjured in the crash, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The collision is under investigation.
