Jacksonville, FL – A man trying to cross the railroad tracks on Tuesday night just before midnight was killed after he was hit by the train in Duval County.
The tracks were located on Emerson Street near Phillips Highway where the victim, 65-year old Edward Gray was pushing his bike across the tracks.
The train had sounded its horn, the lights were flashing, and the crossing arms were down as the Norfolk Southern freight train was approaching the intersection, revealed investigations.
The southbound train was going between 20 to 30 miles when Gray walked right in front of it.
Officials do not know the reason why this tragedy occurred.
Gray was pronounced dead at the scene.
Deaths that could have been avoided are the worse types of deaths. Our hearts go out to Gray’s friends and families.
