A man going in for a procedure to insert titanium rods into a patient’s spine, the attending physician, was unable to see the rods needed to be able to proceed with the surgery. Instead of looking for the rods, the physician improvised and took off the handle of a screwdriver that was nearby, and used that to replace the rods. A few days after the surgery, the rod broke, which led to the man having to have multiple surgeries and being in anguishing pain. Two years later, the patient died. After the death of the patient, his family filed a medical malpractice lawsuit against the physician and were awarded $5.6 million in compensation.
An Ohio gynecologist named Dr. James Burt attracted various women with his advertisement of being able to provide them with pain-free births. What these women were not told of was that he was going to reconstruct their vaginas. The objective that this doctor had was to grow their sexual responses through the reconstruction of their vaginas. Many of these women reported that they could not perform any sexual acts because the pain was too intense. Burt admitted that he performed operations on these women without their consent. Eventually, a total of $21 million was given to the various different woman that brought a lawsuit against Burt.

In 2005, a Canadian man underwent a liver transplant surgery. An emergency procedure was required after the man’s heart stopped palpitating during the surgery. The alcohol that was used prior on his skin to disinfect the area caught on fire. The man suffered severe burns on his shoulders, neck, and head. A surgery had to be scheduled 6 months after the initial surgery to remove a broken sterna from his chest cavity. In addition, due to his failed liver transplant, he needed another surgery in 2007.
Body Builder Inserted With Breast Implants
A bodybuilder visiting a profitable cosmetic surgery practice owned by Reinaldo Silvestre woke up to find out that he breasts implants instead of the pec implants. Silvestre did not have pec implants and instead implanted breasts inside of the man. After the surgery, the “physician” was was nowhere to be seen and it was later discovered that he wasn’t even a physician. He had been using animal anesthetics and spatulas to perform his surgeries. He was caught five years later in Belize where he was arrested and sentenced to seven years in prison.
