Officials report that a flagman getting struck and killed by a van while he was working on the Colbert Lane resurfacing project in Palm Coast, FL.
The Arctic Breeze van was heading north on Colbert when it hit the flagman a few hundred yards south of an intersection.
The incident took place approximately around 3:35 P.M. before he was attempting to make a curve on the north side entrance of Waterfront Park.
Investigators state that the flagman was still breathing and bleeding from his nose when he was hit while officials were getting ready to airlift him to a nearby hospital.
However, the flagman eventually passed away moments later. The identity of the flagman has not yet been released due to next to kin awaiting to be notified.
Halifax Paving was granted $1.86 million to fund the project on resurfacing the Colbert Lane. The company also uses temporary workers as flagmen whenever they conduct projects. It was stated that the resurfacing started in March and was suppose to be done by the end of July.
