Motorcyclist Killed on U.S 19
Hudson, FL – According to the Florida Highway Patrol, an accident involving a motorcycle and an SUV has left the motorcyclist dead.
The crash took place Thursday just before midnight.
The deceased, 31-year-old Paul Thomas Mello, was traveling on the left lane of U.S 19 S in Hudson, FL on his Kawasaki Ninja when he attempted to make a U-turn near the intersection with Tower Drive.
At the same moment, 29-year old Donald Patenaude was driving a 1997 Ford SUV on the opposite direction of Mello when Mello drove right into his path.
According to the FHP, the impact caused the motorcycle to get stuck underneath the SUV.
Both vehicles caught fire.
Reports state that alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
Mello was transported to Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point where he succumbed to his injuries.
Patenaude and his passenger did not sustain any injuries.
