Thomas I. Baker Killed in Manatee Crash on Interstate 75 near State Road 70
Manatee, Florida (November 4, 2017) – A man was killed Friday night in a two-car crash on Interstate 75 in Manatee County, Florida Highway Patrol reported.
The fatal accident about 9:12 p.m. Friday. November 3, near State Road 70.
According to authorities, A 24-year-old Bradenton man was driving a 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt northbound in the left lane of Interstate 75 near State Route 70 when he made an unsafe lane change into the right lane and struck the left side of a 2006 Ford Expedition.
The impact caused the Expedition to go off the road and overturn several times before coming to rest on its roof on the east shoulder of I-70.
The driver of the Expedition, 46-year-old Thomas I. Baker of Ellenton was transported to Sarasota Hospital where he died.
Two girls, a 7-year-old and a 10-year-old, were in the Ford at the time of the crash. The two girls were taken to Sarasota Memorial but FHP say they were not injured.
The incident remains under investigation.
