Stephen Chambers Killed in Truck Vs. Train Crash Near Plumosa Avenue and Ronald Reagen Boulevard
Seminole County, Florida (December 1, 2017) – A truck driver died in a crash involving a SunRail train in Seminole County, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.
The victim has been identified as 40-year-old Stephen Chambers
The accident happened at an unspecified time Thursday afternoon, November 30 near the intersection of Plumosa Avenue and Ronald Reagan Boulevard in Altamonte Springs.
According to FHP, a semi-truck was in the westbound lanes of Magnolia Avenue attempting to back up into a business loading area when Chambers noticed the crossing arms and signals activated. He got into the truck in an attempt to move it, but the SunRail train struck the vehicle on the driver’s side.
Chambers was ejected from the truck and sustained grave injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene. None of the 38 passengers on the train was injured.
Reportedly, the train operator did attempt to stop.
About 30 gallons of diesel fuel was leaked in the crash.
The accident is being investigated by the authorities.
