Williston, FL – The investigation of a small plane crash that left one dead near Williston this morning is currently being investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash happened at about 9:12 a.m. in a pasture at 21850 SW 150th Avenue Road where a VIRUS-SW experimental aircraft was being piloted. The weather has not been determined to be the cause of the crash as the area was under a tornado warning at the time, stated the FAA.
The flight was scheduled to land in Oconee County Regional Airport in Clemon, SC and departed from Sebring Regional Airport.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the number of passengers on the plane at the time is currently unknown, but one there was one confirmed casualty.
The plane crash remains under investigation.
