Apopka, Florida (February 22, 2018) – A 16-year-old dies in a car accident while four other teens have suffered severe injuries.
Around 5 p.m. on Thursday, February 22, five teens drive along the West Ponkan Road near Golden Gem Road when the accident happened. Florida Highway Patrol said that Amen Allah, 19, was the driver of a 2014 Ford when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed on the curb. The victims were going across the westbound lanes when it left the road and struck a pole causing the car to overturn.
Mount Dora’s very own Seth Hoover, 16, died during the incident after he was rushed to Florida Hospital Apopka.
The driver, Allah was sent to Orlando Regional Medical where he suffers minor injuries.
Along with this incident, a 14-year-old boy has critical injuries, a 17-year-old Apopka boy suffers severe injuries, and a 15-year-old Apopka boy suffered minor injuries.
Florida Highway Patrol says that Allah and the 15-year-old were the only two wearing seat belts. They also believe that alcohol and drugs were not involved.
The incident is still being investigated, and charges are pending.
