Rusty Bovee Killed in Daytona Beach Pedestrian Accident at South Nova Road and Forest Glen Boulevard
Daytona Beach, Florida (February 8, 2018) – A 35-year-old woman died when she was struck by a car Wednesday morning at an intersection in Daytona Beach, a local news source reported.
The victim was identified as Rusty Bovee, of Daytona Beach.
At around 7 a.m. Wednesday, February 7, Daytona Beach police received a call of a body lying in the northbound lanes of South Nova Road near Forest Glen Boulevard.
When the authorities arrived at the scene, they found the body on the roadway.
Bovee was hit and killed by a maroon Mitsubishi Raider. The driver fled the scene.
Police used pieces of the suspect vehicle that were left at the scene of the accident and located the pickup matching its description on Marion Street.
The suspect driver, 63-year-old Juan Alberto Correa, admitted to being in an accident and said he drove away.
He later called his insurance company and two other people, but not authorities, Correa said.
Correa was arrested and booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail on $20,000 bond. He faces charges of leaving the crash of an accident with death.
