Pilot Robert Brandon Sustains Serious Injuries in St. Petersburg-Clearwater Plane Crash on Saturday Afternoon
Clearwater, Florida (November 26, 2017) – A 67-year-old pilot is nursing injuries in a hospital after his plane crashed Saturday afternoon in Clearwater, a local news source stated.
The pilot, who has been identified as Robert Brandon, was injured when his 2005 Piper Meridian single-engine plane crashed just after 1 p.m. Saturday, November 25.
Brandon was flying home to Pensacola from St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport when he noticed the plane had engine problems. He sent an emergency call to air traffic control, but unfortunately, the plane crashed nose first before he could land.
Brandon sustained serious injuries including some broken bones, some rib injuries, and possibly collapsed lung, a sheriff’s official said. The injuries were said to be non-life-threatening.
Authorities are investigating the accident.
