Motorcyclist Robert Ainsworth and Driver Hospitalized in Sarasota County Crash on River Road
Sarasota County, Florida (February 9, 2018) – Two people were injured in a crash Thursday afternoon in Sarasota County, according to Florida Highway Patrol report.
The incident happened at around 1 p.m. Thursday, February 8, on River Road in Sarasota County.
The FHP reported that 92-year-old Roy Burton Taylor, of Englewood, was exiting the Grand Villa of Englewood, 925 S. River Road, in a Saturn Aura when he made a left-hand turn and failed to see a Harley-Davidson motorcycle driven south on River Road by 51-year-old Robert Walter Ainsworth, of Rotonda West.
The patrol said that the front of the motorcycle crashed with the left rear of the Saturn
Ainsworth suffered serious injuries and was flown to Sarasota Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Taylor sustained minor injuries in the crash and was transported to Englewood Medical Center, as per the report.
The Florida Highway Patrol stated that Ainsworth was not wearing a helmet while was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Authorities said Taylor was issued a citation for failure to yield.
