Alabama Man Richard Gyomber ID’d as Victim of Cape Canaveral Pedestrian Crash on SR-520
Cape Canaveral, Florida (February 10, 2018) – A male pedestrian who was fatally struck Friday night in Cape Canaveral in Brevard County has been identified as 55-year-old Richard Gyomber, of Alabama, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
The deadly collision took place at around 8:40 p.m. Friday, February 9, in Merritt Island along State Road 520 and Newfound Harbor Drive.
According to a preliminary investigation report, 24-year-old Vanessa Suarez was traveling eastbound on SR 520 in a 2012 Nissan when her car struck Gyomber who was trying to cross SR 520 near the intersection of Newfound Harbor Drive.
The state patrol said that Gyomber was transported to Cape Canaveral Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
An investigation into the crash is still ongoing.
