Pedestrian-Pickup Truck Crash on Gunnery Road Seriously Injures Reggie Delorme
Lehigh Acres, FL (October 30, 2017) – A pedestrian was seriously injured after he was hit by the side mirror of a pickup truck Monday, October 30 morning.
The Florida Highway Patrol reported that 17-year-old Reggie Delorme, of Lehigh Acres, was walking along Gunnery Road near 6th Street West when he was struck by the side mirror of a 2001 Ford F250.
The driver of the truck said that Delorme was wearing a dark, non-reflective clothing and did not move off the road when the pickup truck drove by. This caused Delorme to be hit by the side mirror and was sent to Lee Memorial Hospital for treatment, where he has been listed in fair condition.
The driver and his passenger were not hurt in the incident.
The FHP is still investigating the incident but has ruled out alcohol as a factor.
