Zephyrhills Crash Kills One and Seriously Injures Two
Zephyrhills, Florida (January 4, 2018) – One person was Killed, and two others were seriously injured in a crash involving two vehicles Wednesday morning, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash took place around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 3, at Eiland Boulevard and Silverado Ranch Boulevard.
According to FHP, a 2011 Chevrolet driver was trying to turn left from Silverado Ranch onto Eiland when the vehicle swerved into the direct path of a 2017 Ford van driving eastbound on Eiland. The van’s front struck the right side of the Chevrolet.
A female occupant in the Chevy, who was wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and another passenger sustained serious injuries and were taken to a hospital. It was not confirmed whether they were wearing seatbelts. Their identities were withheld by FHP pending family notification.
The 24-year-old driver, Kristopher Yaklin, of Wesley Chapel who was wearing a seatbelt was not injured in the crash.
No charges were filed and alcohol was not suspected to be a factor.
The crash remains under investigation.
