A 22-year-old motorcyclist has died after his motorcycle collides with a pickup truck on U.S. Route 98 in Lakeland, FL.
Lakeland Officials reported that the incident occurred on Friday, April 13 at approximately 11 A.M. when the motorcyclist, identified as Odlanyer Rodriguez was riding his 2007 Suzuki motorcycle on the southbound lanes of U.S. Route 98 North.
The reports also state that the driver of a 2017 Ford F350 pickup truck which was driven by 43-year-old Hubble Keller, who happened to be traveling in the same direction in the outside lane had begun to merge onto the center lane.
Witnesses state that Keller hit Rodriguez’s motorcycle causing him to lose control and fall onto the road. The back tires of the F350 drove over Rodriguez and the motorcycle.
Lakeland’s Police and Fire Department showed up to the scene and used life-threatening measures on Rodriguez. He was then rushed to Lakeland Regional Health where he was later pronounced dead.
The Traffic Homicide Unit is still investigating the crash and no charges have been filed.
