Northeast 35th Street Two-Vehicle Collision Kills Motorcyclist
Ocala, FL (September 22, 2017) – A motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a vehicle Thursday evening on Northeast 35th Street.
The Florida Highway Patrol reported the incident to have occurred around 9:51 p.m. on September 21 at the intersection near Northeast Jacksonville Road.
The victim was identified as Nathan Rouse-Hecken, of Ocala, who was riding his 2013 Bash motorcycle westbound on Northeast 35th Street.
Troopers shared that Rouse-Hecken ran a red light at the intersection and was struck by a southbound 2006 Honda Odyssey driving from Northeast Jacksonville Road.
Rouse-Hecken was rushed to Ocala Regional Medical Center, where he was declared dead. He wore a helmet at the time of the crash.
The minivan’s driver 30-year-old Keysha McPheters, and her husband, 31-year-old Jesse McPheters, both of Ocala, were not injured in the incident.
Despite an ongoing investigation, troopers do not think speed was a factor in the crash.
We extend our condolences to the family and friends of the victim in this incident.
