One Killed and Another Injured in Polk County Two-Vehicle Crash on U.S. 98 N
Lakeland, Florida (December 22, 2017) – A Lakeland man was killed in a two-vehicle crash that left a Dade City man with injuries on Tuesday morning in North Lakeland.
The crash occurred shortly before 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 19 on U.S. 98 North, just north of State Road 47, according to Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said Nathan Barron, 27, of Lakeland, was driving a Nissan Altima northbound on U.S. 98 North when he swerved into the path of oncoming traffic and collided with a 2017 Ford F-250 driven by Lawrence White Jr. 53, of Dade City.
Barron was extricated from the Altima and pronounced dead at the scene.
White suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center.
U.S. 98 was shut down for hours as investigators examined and cleared the scene.
Police believe heavy fog on the roads may have contributed to the crash.
