Sheriff’s Office dive team have concluded that Michael Martin of Georgetown, FL and Patrick Magie of Cordova, Arkansas have died when their plane crashed into Putnam County’s St. Johns River.
The aircraft, Quest Kodiak 100 took off at approximately 3 p.m. from the Mount Royal Airpark, north of the Fort Gates Ferry landing. It was later reported to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office at around 7:30 p.m. that there may have been a possible plane crash in the river south of Lake George.
The Quest Kodiak was found upside down in about 12 feet of water. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
The National Transportation Safety Board hired a wreck recovery company to take the plane out of the river to further investigate and find the probable cause of the crash.
