State Road 62 Two-Vehicle Head-On Collision Kills 2
Manatee County, FL (September 18, 2017) – Two men died in a head-on collision on State Road 62 Friday afternoon.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 3 p.m. September 8 past Scarborough Road.
The FHP shared that 66-year-old Michael Galligan, of Valrico, drove his Nissan Frontier westbound on SR 62. Galligan failed to maintain his lane and crossed into the lane of a Ford Mustang driven by 18-year-old Jorge Liberato, of Palmetto. The two vehicles crashed head-on.
As a result of the crash, the Nissan rolled over several times before coming to a stop on its roof.
Both drivers were killed in the collision.
The FHP found that the two drivers were not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
