20-Year-Old Woman Killed in Broward County Crash on the Florida Turnpike
Broward County, Florida (January 2, 2018) – A fatal crash on the Florida Turnpike early Monday morning claimed the life of a Miami woman in Broward County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred at around 6:40 a.m. Monday, January 1 on the Florida Turnpike, just north of Atlantic Boulevard.
Troopers said 20-year-old Mia Angeli Cepeda was driving a 2016 Hyundai Sonata when she drifted off her lane and sideswiped a 2002 Hyundai Electra being driven by 53-year-old Nicolas Quinones of Pompano Beach.
The crash pushed Cepeda’s car into the median and crashed into a canal.
Cepeda was wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.
Quinones was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.
FHP said an investigation is ongoing to determine what caused the crash.
