Truck-Car Crash on Purdy Lane Kills Merlin Ariel Diaz Martinez
West Palm Beach, FL (October 22, 2017) – A collision between a truck and a car early Sunday morning has killed one man while two others sustained minor injuries.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office reported the collision to have occurred around 12:45 a.m. on Purdy Lane, near the intersection of Haverhill Road.
The report showed that 42-year-old Felix Erlin Pozo Leyva, of West Palm Beach, drove a truck westbound on Purdy Lane had two passengers with him inside the truck: 26-year-old Merlin Ariel Diaz Martinez, of West Palm Beach, and another 23-year-old man from Orlando. Leyva failed to yield to a red light and struck a southbound car driven by 42-year-old Steve D’Haiti, of North Lauderdale.
The two vehicles struck each other a couple of times before coming to a stop.
The collision killed Martinez, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident. Leyva and the other passenger sustained minor injuries along with D’Haiti and his 4-year-old passenger.
Charges are pending.
