A woman from Bonifay dies after being involved in a crash with a police car that had its emergency lights on in Holmes County.
The driver of the police car marked as Holmes County Sheriff’s Office patrol car was identified as 20-year-old Zachary Neitsch.
Florida Highway Patrol officials reported that Neitsch was traveling west on Thomas Drive when he turned on his siren and emergency lights.
Another victim was identified as Mellie Marell was near Hospital Drive when she neglected to yield the right of way so, Neitsch’ s car hit the front side of Marell’s Volkswagen Passat.
The patrol car and Volkswagen overturned with the force of impact and ended at the grassy shoulder of Thomas Drive.
Both were rushed to Doctors Memorial Hospital. Neitsch is suffering from serious injuries while Marell was pronounced dead shortly after her arrival.
FHP states that chargers are pending depending on the investigation.
