Melanie Rivera Critically Injured in Davie Pedestrian Accident on Nova Drive
Davie, Florida (February 8, 2018) – A Western High School student is in critical condition after she was struck by a vehicle Thursday morning in Davie, a local news source reported.
According to the article, the victim was identified by her classmates as 16-year-old Melanie Rivera.
Davie police Sgt. Mark Leone said that Rivera was walking to her bus stop when a car traveling east on Nova Drive struck her.
The driver of the vehicle, Rosamond C. Preseau, 100, continued driving for a short distance, and then made a U-turn and returned to the scene, Leone said.
Authorities did not believe that the driver was attempting to leave the crash scene.
Rivera was rushed to a hospital for treatment. She was listed in critical condition.
Police are investigating the accident.
