15-Year-Old Student Critically Injured in Sunshine Boulevard North Pedestrian-Car Crash
Lehigh Acres, FL (September 5, 2017) – A car traveling on Sunshine Boulevard North Tuesday morning hit a 15-year-old Riverdale High School student that sent her to the hospital with critical injuries.
The Florida Highway Patrol reported that the collision took place around 6 a.m. September 5 as Marissa Perez, of Lehigh Acres, walked on the west shoulder of the road’s southbound lane.
At that moment, a southbound 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder driven by 21-year-old Robert William Hrara, of Lehigh Acres, turned right near 61st Street West. When Hrara turned his vehicle, he crossed the white lane and onto the west shoulder, hitting Perez.
First responders transported Perez to Lee Memorial Hospital, where she is getting medical treatment for critical injuries sustained in the crash.
The FHP said that Hrara will be facing charges of failure to drive within a single lane.
