Naples Woman Maria Malfitano Hospitalized after Bicycle Crash on SR 84
Naples, Florida (February 3, 2018) – A 57-year-old woman was injured when a bicycle she was riding on collided with a car on Friday evening in East Naples, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
The accident happened at around 4 p.m. Friday, February 2, on Davis Boulevard near Kings Way.
Troopers said Maria Malfitano, 57, of Naples was riding a bike on a crosswalk eastbound on Davis Boulevard when she was struck by a 2015 Lexus, traveling northbound on Kings Way and was attempting to cross the intersection after the driver failed to yield.
Malfitano was airlifted to Lee Memorial Hospital in Fort Myers with critical injuries.
The driver of the Lexus, Cheryl June Pohl, 72, of Naples, was unhurt.
The Florida Highway Patrol said alcohol was unlikely a factor in the accident.
