Margarett Ruiz Killed in Miami Auto-Pedestrian Crash on N.E 2nd Court at N.E 62nd Street
Miami, Florida (November 3, 2017) – A woman in a wheelchair was fatally struck by a vehicle Wednesday evening as she crossed at an intersection in Miami, reported a local news source article.
The victim has been identified as 83-year-old Margarett Ruiz.
The deadly collision was reported at around 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 1 along N.E 2nd Court at N.E 62nd Street.
Ruiz, who was riding an electric wheelchair, was hit by a four-door, dark-colored vehicle at the intersection.
A witness said a big garbage can might have obstructed motorists from seeing Ruiz.
The victim was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital where she sadly died shortly after arrival.
Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle did not stop to offer aid but sped away.
