Largo Motorcyclist Killed in Crash with Car on E Gobbler Drive in Citrus County
Citrus County, Florida (December 31, 2017) – A 58-year-old woman riding a motorcycle was struck and killed by a car on Saturday afternoon in Citrus County, according to FHP.
The crash happened at around 2:27 p.m. Saturday, December 30 on E Gobbler Drive near Old Floral City Road.
Troopers said Margaret Proffitt, 58, of Largo, was driving a 2016 Honda motorcycle westbound on E Gobbler Drive when she failed to negotiate a curve and crossed into the eastbound side. The motorcycle crashed into an eastbound 2015 Toyota Tacoma driven by John Joseph Meade, 69, of Panama City.
Proffitt was rushed to Citrus Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
Meade’s passenger, Pamela Jane Meade, 58, of Panama City, sustained minor injuries but was not taken to a hospital.
No other injuries were reported.
Troopers said alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
