National Guardsman Killed in Multi-Vehicle Accident on U.S. 27 in Sebring
Sebring, Florida (January 21, 2018) – Police have released the name of the National Guardsman killed on Friday afternoon in a major collision involving military vehicles in Sebring.
Specialist Luis Garcia died in the crash that took place at around 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 19, on U.S. Highway 27 at the intersection of Hammock Road.
According to police, three Palletized Load System vehicles were traveling northbound on U.S. 27 when the first and the second vehicles stopped for a red light.
Garcia was the driver of the third vehicle and failed to stop in time, slamming into the back of the middle vehicle.
Garcia was killed in the crash. A passenger in his vehicle was extricated and rushed to a hospital with serious injuries.
There were three other people who were transported to area hospitals.
The Guards crew was headed to Avon Park from Miramar for an assignment.
