I-95 Multiple Vehicle Collision Kills 1 and Injures 13
Nassau County, FL (September 5, 2017) – A massive collision on the southbound lane of the I-95 early Tuesday morning has killed at least one and injured 13 others.
On a tweet sent by the Florida Highway Patrol, over 20 vehicles were involved in the collision that took place in Nassau County shortly after midnight September 5.
The FHP reported that the driver of a tractor trailer failed to stop his vehicle and plowed into the stopped vehicles stuck in traffic due to an earlier accident on I-95 at mile marker 374, north of A1A.
The crash included a total of 22 vehicles. First responders declared one person dead at the scene. They also transported 13 other people to hospitals for medical treatment.
Because of the crash, all southbound lanes were shut down. Troopers rerouted traffic to US-17.
The FHP is investigating the crash.
