Recently Engaged Couple and Wrong-Way Driver Die in Interstate 75 Crash
Gibsonton, Florida (December 17, 2017) – A newly engaged couple and a wrong-way driver were Killed in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 75 Thursday night, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened on Thursday, December 12 on Interstate 75.
According to FHP, LaShay Waiters, 24, and Yvette Alexandre, 21, were killed alongside a wrong-way driver, Justin Lakin, 21, near Gibsonton. LaShay and Yvette were killed when Justin, who was driving north in the southbound lane on I-75 hit their car.
According to a local news source, Waiters and Alexandre were former students of the University of Florida where they met before getting engaged last month. They had dropped a friend in Tampa, and they were driving to Snipes’ House where they had planned to spend the night.
The crash remains under investigation.
