Two Students Airlifted and Three Others Injured in Lake Placid Crash on U.S. 27
Lake Placid, Florida (December 15, 2017) – 5 students and a driver were injured in a serious crash involving a school bus on U.S. 27, near Lake Ridge Drive Wednesday morning, authorities said.
The crash took place at about 7:48 a.m. Wednesday, December 13 at U.S. 27 and Lake Placid Drive.
According to sources, the bus stopped with its lights on, to get students on board when the semi-truck failed to stop in time and crashed into the back of the bus. The impact of the crash caused the bus to overturn onto its left side.
As per the report, two students were airlifted to the hospital after sustaining serious injuries. Three others and a driver were also injured and transported to a nearby hospital.
The driver of the semi, 45, of Orlando was cited with careless driving ticket.
The crash remains under an investigation.
