Kimayetta Jones and Eldon Jones Sustain Injuries in Car Crash at State Road 47 and County Road 238 in Lake City
Lake City, Florida (February 11, 2018) – A woman was critically injured, and two others sustained minor injuries in a two-vehicle collision that occurred early Saturday morning after a driver ran a red light in Lake City, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.
The victims have been identified as 43-year-old Kimayetta Jones, 49-year-old Eldon Jones, and 28-year-old Eva Ray.
The collision happened at an unspecified time Saturday, February 10 at the intersection of State Road 47 and County Road 238.
According to FHP, Eldon was heading south on State Road 47 when he was struck by a Jeep that ran a red light at the intersection. Ray was the driver of the Jeep.
Authorities said that the crash caused Ray’s Jeep to spin out and Eldon’s vehicle flipped over and crashed into a nearby fence.
Officials said that Kimayetta, Eldon’s passenger, was airlifted to UF Health Gainesville in critical condition while the drivers were treated at the scene for minor injuries.
An investigation into the accident was started.
