Joseph Nemits Killed in Indian River County Rollover Crash on US 1
Indian River County, Florida (January 12, 2018) – According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 19-year-old man was killed in a rollover crash Wednesday morning in Indian River County.
The man was identified by the FHP as Joseph A. Nemits, of Sebastian.
The fatal crash took place at about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 10 on US 1, south of 73rd Street.
Troopers stated that Nemits was driving a trailer carrying chemicals north when he rear-ended another truck which was stopped in the right lane of US 1. Nemit’s vehicle then flipped and collided with two other trucks at the intersection before it came to a rest on its side.
Nemits died at the crash scene. No one else was injured in the incident.
Authorities affirmed that the occupants of the three other vehicles were all wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
All lanes of US 1 from 69th Street to 73rd Street were closed down for about an hour after the crash.
An investigation into the cause of the fatal crash is underway.
