East Naples Crash at Price Road and U.S. 41 Leaves Ten Injured

East Naples, Florida (January 10, 2018) – According to the Florida Highway Patrol, ten people were injured in a three-vehicle crash in East Naples Monday night.
The crash happened around 7:15 p.m. Monday, January 8, at U.S. 41 and Price Road.
According to FHP, a 77-year-old Rochester man, John Donovan, New York, was turning left from the south on U.S. 41 to travel eastbound on Price Street, near Collier Boulevard.
His 2018 Chevrolet Traverse then pulled into the path of a BMW operated by a 66-year-old Bharat Rao, of Naples, who was traveling northbound on U.S. 41.
The BMW struck the passenger side of Donovan’s Chevy causing it to spin and be redirected northbound, FHP said.
As per the report, a 42-year-old Naples woman, Deanna Healy, who was waiting to turn northbound on U.S. 41 from west Price, pulled her 2015 Nissan Altima forward while she observed the Chevrolet SUV approaching. The SUV’S front struck the back of Healy’s Nissan.
Ten People were injured in the crash, and seven of them were taken to hospitals. Donovan sustained serious injuries in the crash and was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital.
All passengers occupying Donovan’s vehicle were from Rochester. They included 75-year-old Kathleen Donovan who was seriously injured and hospitalized at Lee Memorial Hospital, 20-year-old Kaitlyn Buckert, who received minor injuries and went to NCH hospital, and 20-year-old Hannah Nelson, who also suffered minor injuries.
Rao and two other occupants of his car; 60-year-old Warren Lobo and 54-year-old Roweena Lobo, both of East Islip, New York sustained minor injuries.
Christian Rao, 65, of Naples, suffered serious injuries and was transported to Physicians Regional–Collier Boulevard.
Healy and her 17-year-old passenger, Kaylee Healy, of Naples both sustained minor injuries.
Donovan faces a charge of failing to yield.
The crash remains under investigation.
