Car-Semi Truck Crash on Interstate 75 Critically Injures 85-Year-Old Woman
Hamilton County, FL (September 7, 2017) – A female passenger was critically injured after the car she was riding in was involved in a collision with a semi truck on the northbound lane of Interstate 75 early morning Wednesday.
The Florida Highway Patrol said the accident took place around 2:40 a.m. September 6, near the 451-mile marker.
The report showed that 84-year-old Anthony Levering drove his car northbound on I-75 when he came close to a semi truck. The truck came from the east shoulder and had just merged into the outside lane of the road. Levering’s vehicle swerved into the same lane and ended up hitting the left rear of the truck’s trailer.
85-year-old Joan Berkery was riding in the vehicle with Levering and was critically injured in the crash. She was airlifted to UF Health Shands Hospital for medical attention.
Levering sustained minor injuries and was transported to Shands Live Oak Regional Medical Center. The driver of the truck was uninjured.
